Large curtains and heavy fabrics can often not be cleaned easily due to difficulties in removing and then replacing them on site or finding a dry cleaners who have machinery large enough to accommodate these items. Curtains with linings in particular should not be wet cleaned as this usually leads to shrinkage problems between the fabric and linings.
Buchanans are able to dry-clean curtains as they hang in-situ, eliminating the need to remove them from the site at all. Cleaning is achieved using a hot-solvent extraction machine and the curtains are usually completely dry in approximately one hour depending on temperature and humidity conditions.
Voiles or net curtains can also be cleaned in-situ and swags, tails and tie-backs are all finished by hand.

A very busy hotel in Norwich has huge floor to ceiling curtains, which had become heavily soiled over the years, in their main events suite.Owing to their size and weight, the curtains could not be removed and taken to the local dry cleaners.
